Manhattan, KS – Despite losing 2-0 at Kansas State University Sunday, Truman received an invitation to this year’s Region IV NIRSA Tournament.
This is Truman’s second straight year accepting an invite into the Regional Tournament, which will be held in Wichita, KS. Last year, Truman went 1-1-1 during round-robin play and failed to advance into the semifinal match despite only allowing 2 goals within those 3 games. Truman will play Washington University, University of Arkansas, and Kansas University in round robin play, hoping to earn their spot in the Final 4 this year.
The Regional Tournament will be Friday, October 26th with Truman’s first game matching up against the #1 ranked team in the league, Washington University (3PM).
Maryville, MO – Coming off a productive weekend, taking 1 of 2 games, Truman takes down Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) 3-0.
Struggling to find a rhythm in their offense, Truman came out slow against NWMSU. Their defense was strong, but the midfield struggled to connect passes and create opportunities up top. The team had won last year’s bout against NWMSU handedly, 6-0, but went into halftime at a 0-0 draw. With the start of the second half, it wasn’t long before Truman’s center-mid, junior Nick Landmann, scored off a strike inside NWMSU’s box. Following the first goal, Landmann was able to strike another goal off of the Mike Manougian’s near post header and with sophomore Austin Werth’s 35-yard bomb, the game finalized at 3-0.
With a great second half turn-around, Truman seeks to use that momentum into their final league match-up at Kansas State University on Sunday, October 15th (2PM).
